DESCRIPTION:
Famous for its large American Crocodiles, the Tarcoles River forms the Northern border of Carara Biological Reserve on the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
The Tarcoles River is home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild, with some up to twenty feet long and can live for 60 years!.
So big they have names like “Saddam Hussein” and “Mike Tyson!” In addition, over fifty different birds’ species can be seen on site. During your boat ride, you may see Scarlet Macaws and a variety of resident and migrant waterfowls, iguanas and Jesus Christ lizards
Board a custom-built, flat-bottom river boat at our private botanical garden. Then, glide along this placid river with our naturalist guide, who describes the birds, animals, and habitat in great detail.
After visiting the river mouth, you venture up a mature mangrove estuary, where the guide stops to learn about this remarkable ecosystem. After enjoying fresh fruit and refreshments, you slowly return upstream to the native botanic garden, where our guide explains more about the native plant species of this transitional zone habitat.
After this experience, a short drive to one of the most beautiful souvenir’s stores in the area will complement this tour, where you will have some free time for get that special gift or enjoy your favourite drink at the river overlooking porch of this beautiful complex.
